Creative
Studio Mural

At the end of 2019 the Starbucks Creative Studio underwent an interior refresh that included designing a mural to be painted at the entrance of our work space.  A small team of designers and writers concepted a piece that combined iconic starbucks imagery like a unique illustrative take on the siren, and sumatran tiger, with elements that are special to the studio specific partners like a record player, illustration tools, and pantone chips.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR: BEN NELSON
ACD: BRIDGET MEREDITH
DESIGNERS: JAMIE JONES, TAYLOR MATTSON, VIVAN CHE, AND MARY STRATTON
WRITER: GRACE GABEL

The Siren is the muse of the starbucks brand. Many iterations of her have been drawn in Starbucks' 50 years as a company. We wanted to create a new refreshing take on her that embodied the playful and creative spirit of the studio.

Here is the initial concept sketch that i drew wanting to show how the elements could come together in a loose gridded style. Since we wanted multiple designers represented in this mural we chose an illustration style that would allow individual designers to illustrate different element and then be able to puzzle them all together and still be a cohesive piece.
